EXCITING NEWS

So, two bits of exciting news for y'all.
First- Ive designed a Kids room Mural for the Nudgee Beach Hotel as requested from the Venue Manager. This is so exciting for me because I get to paint physically and digitally! I will upload the pic soon, just gotta finish it first!

2nd piece of exciting news! One of my lecturers asked if anyone would be interested in teaching animation to grades 4-6 and I immediatly put up my hand! Im working with one other of my classmates and we have an excellent lesson plan already! Its very exciting and I cant wait to teach the kids about something that i love! I hope they love it too!

SkateDeck Illustration

Our last weekly assignment for Illustration for Design was to create a pro model skatedeck. This is the end product! We had to include our full name for recognition purposes and also have a tri colour palett. This proved to be quite difficult but I am happy with the end product. It is designed for females but if the dudes like it, thats cool too (y)

Rough Animation for Credits

So, This is the rough animation for the end of our film! The text will not be handwritten, that was just so I could get a sense of what went where and Im not sure if I should colour it or have it on a nlack screen with white outlines. There is a section of rolling credits that will not be animated, it will be the music and the thanks bit. cant wait to see what its going to look like altogether! Oh and where Draco is blowing a kiss, there is meant to be a camera move following the heart to another credit saying 'colour' and my name. So pretend it there :D

Business Cards

So I've designed my business cards, hooray! I have no idea hwere to get them preinted because there is more than one design. I Think these cards capture my sense of artistic aesthetic and describe me perfectly. Im really proud of them and had alot of fun putting them together. Originally, I was going to hand make each one but with the glue and dodgy cutting out skillz, they looked a bit crap. So I scanned in everything and made them in photoshop. Enjoy :D

Portrait Illustration- Juliet

For our next major Illustration assignment, we were to create a portrait of anyone! I originally planned to create it with watercolour but soon discovered that we dont really get along. Im sure if I apply myself to it, we can resolve our issues and work it out :P
But, I really really wanted to do traditional graphite on the ole' paper. What a good feeling that was! I took this photo at the beginning of this year, she's my cousins daughter and has the most magnificent eyes I have ever seen. She's just gorgeous and I really wanted to capture that in the drawing. The first sketch I did was ok, borderline horrendous but I used a method that our lecture suggested, drawing in grids. So round three, I was set to go! Im glad I tried the grid method although I do feel like I was cheating a little bit... if my life drawing teacher saw the grids, she might just have an aneurysm...
I also went into the art shop and purchased paper smudging things, been wanting to try that for ages and Im glad I did!

Overall, I'm really happy with the finished product! There are some inconsistancies with the mouth but I think it adds character as I believe its not meant to be perfect, otherwise I could stick with the photo! That's about it, hope you like it!

Shirley (Count Olaf)

So here's my last illustration for this first major assignment. Im pretty happy with it!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel...

For our first major illustration assignment, we had to choose two characters out of Rapunzel (brothers Grimm), Count Olaf (A series of unfortunate events) and the Gruffalo. I chose Rapunzel and Count Olaf and boy was it a challenge. We had to redesign the characters with no reference other than the description in the story. It's hard to come up with a completely new design, in fact I would say impossible! But here is my rapunzel, I'm pretty pleased with her! I chose to make her young (about 12) and looking out into the distance, waiting for something, anything to happen. Being 12 and locked in a tower would be uber boring!

We also had to include the original text :) Looking back on it now, I wouldve like to have made her face stand out a bit more, with a focus on the eyes but to change it now would be a mission as I still have Olaf to do by this afternoon!

Illustration for Design

For last weeks assignment we had to recreate a wine label that didnt have any illustrated elements on it. I chose a Brown Brothers Rose Moscato because it had alot of potential and tasted great! The girl you see in it is my friend Kelsey, she's beautiful and I tried to capture it in this illustration :) Im pretty happy with the end result too so yay!

Hi Hi :)

So I've been MIA latley but doesn't mean I havn't been doing stuff! I have some things to scan and colour so I will get back to you with those. Uni is pretty crazy at the moment but I have been doing Draco stuff to take my mind of essays and boring assignments :)

Let's get the ball rolling...

Hi friends.

This is going to be my blog for our 3rd year film called "Draco"(Draco's Blog). I'm going to be working two really great people, you can follow their blogs here: Nat and Amy.

So basically, here's some of the stuff I've done in the pre-production stage:

Also, I've been working on the design of the Trolls! They're fun to draw :)

I've also had a go and creating a background which was heavily influenced by Adventure Time!

So that's what I've been working on. We're still busy with the character design so once tha is done, I'll post some more up so you can see our awesome progress :)
